Global economic and environmental benefits of GE crops continues to rise
—bio.org

Farmers using improved seeds and biotech crop varieties continue to see significant economic and on-farm environmental benefits, according to the seventh annual report on crop biotechnology impacts prepared by UK-based PG Economics.

According to Graham Brookes, director of PG Economics and co-author of the report, a majority (55 percent) of the 2010 farm income gains went to farmers in developing countries. Ninety percent of these are resource poor on small farms.

2013: A Time for Re-imagining How Work
Gets Done More

When Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers analyst Mary Meeker said 2013 will be the year of re-imagining everything in a recent, highly publicized presentation at Stanford University, she was talking about Internet trends. But she could have been describing workforce management.

In the next 12 months, companies will re-imagine how work gets done, who does it and what tools they use to accomplish the task. Workforce changes that started during the recession will intensify, including offering more flexibility over where and when their people work, and relying on more contingent and contract workers.

Jasmine Shu
Senior Recruiter
Lab Support

With over ten years at Lab Support, Jasmine is fortunate to have found her calling as a recruiter and doubly so to work with a team she loves. She has worked at other agencies, but feels the environment and dynamic at the Lab Support San Bruno office is very special. “There is no comparison,” she says.

Jasmine began her recruiting career as a recruiting coordinator for a financial services company. After a few years, she transitioned to the IT/Software sector where she worked as an in-house technical recruiter for three years. In 2002, she joined Lab Support and began her career in scientific staffing.

One of Jasmine’s key responsibilities is to provide excellent recruiting services to Lab Support clients throughout the San Francisco Bay Area. An important aspect of her job is to create and foster relationships with colleges and universities to attract and recruit the best new candidates who graduate each year. She is involved in outreach programs at San Francisco State University, City College of San Francisco, and the University of San Francisco.

Jasmine is very passionate about her job and proud of the impact she has on people’s lives. Candidates are appreciative of the time she takes to learn about their individual qualifications and find them the right job. During the last few years in particular, she has received many thanks from the candidates she works with. One candidate wrote her a personal thank you letter where he stated that she saved his family’s well-being. “It’s a great feeling to know how much I've helped people,” she says.

And where there is passion, you’ll find success. Jasmine has been a Lab Support top assignment maker as well as a prestigious On Assignment President’s Club monthly winner several times during the course of her career at Lab Support, and an annual winner in 2010.

Outside of work, Jasmine enjoys spending family time with her husband Dennis and their two sons, Dylan and Hunter. They love doing outdoor activities, including going to Lake Tahoe for skiing in the winter and swimming in the summer. Jasmine also enjoys participating in half marathons. One of her favorite pastimes is to travel and immerse herself in different cultures.
